BONJOUR RÉMI

I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR PRIVATE AND PERSONAL PAGE, WHERE I BROUGHT SOME INFO ON YOUR WORK :)

Rémi, 2020

Oil and acrylic on linen

40 x 30 cm

When I started making this commissioned portrait, I immediately recall a precious painting by Frida Kahlo entitled Diego and I

in which she depicts herself with her lover Diego Rivera painted as a miniature figure floating on her head. The way she paints it is quite weird but very touching though as if she couldn't say more clear than that way how much Rivera was loved by her, being present constantly on her thoughts.

For your portrait, I used the sketch as the starting point to bring to the composition the fluidity and intensity of a drawing. Here you can see many Rémis painted on the skin of a guy, they are also floating on his body in different positions and situations - always shirtless and mostly wearing just underwear. For me, it was very important to create a narrative able to bring intensity, desire, love, and eroticism.
